Chul Jung, CEO of NAMUTECH, Receives the Minister of Science and ICT Award for Contributions to Cloud Industry Development

Chul Jung, CEO of NAMUTECH, has been honored with the Minister of Science and ICT Award at the 2023 Cloud Industry Development Merit Awards, recognizing his contributions to the advancement of the cloud industry.

The Cloud Industry Development Merit Awards, organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Institute for Information & communications Technology Promotion, and the Korea Intelligent Information Society Agency, celebrate individuals who have significantly contributed to the enhancement of cloud usage through policy development, technological innovation, and industry nurturing.

The awards ceremony was held at the ‘2nd Cloudin (人) Night’ event at the JW Marriott Hotel in Seoul on the 12th. Chul Jung, CEO of NAMUTECH, has been acknowledged for his leadership in cloud-native transitions and the development of a domestic cloud platform, as well as his significant contributions to the growth of the cloud industry and the PaaS platform ecosystem over his more than two decades in IT business management.

Jung pioneered the ‘Cocktail Cloud’, a container-based cloud platform, and has been instrumental in its development and commercialization. Since 2016, ahead of the full emergence of the container and Kubernetes market, he has developed container-based cloud platforms, significantly improving IT operations and efficiency in finance, manufacturing, and public sectors, thereby boosting the cloud software’s competitiveness.

As the first chairman of the Connect Cloud Alliance PaaS Support Committee of the Korea Cloud Industry Association, he actively promoted the importance of commercial PaaS platforms. He focused on establishing a cooperative ecosystem among companies, enhancing technical capabilities, nurturing talent for mutual growth, and contributing to government policy suggestions to build a cloud-native industry ecosystem centered on PaaS platforms.

At the awards ceremony, CEO Chul Jung remarked, “Despite their central role in cloud-native implementation, PaaS platforms and the efforts of the domestic commercial PaaS platform sector have not been adequately recognized. I am committed to continuing our efforts to activate and enhance the value of cloud-native initiatives centered around PaaS platforms.”
